We are less than a week away from Miami Rum Renaissance, the largest rum convention in the United States. For the first time, The Rum Trader will be attending. I have been invited to take part in this year’s festivities as part of the Consumer Rum Jury. A new experience being introduced this year will bring together amateur Rum devotees whom “will be presented with an array of blind tasting samples to evaluate using the same strict standards and procedures employed by the international rum experts in their competition.”
This year’s event will see its largest rum selection ever. In addition to dozens of Authentic Caribbean Rums, there will a number of European, near East and even Far East rums represented. Brands like West Indies’ Afrohead, Skotlander from Denmark, Don Papa from The Philippines, or Nine Leaves from Japan; I NEVER thought I’d have a chance at sampling them but I will be able to at Rum Renaissance. With 100s of rums just waiting to be explored I hope some of you will join me in Miami. Remember “Rum Is Fun”.
