A. Hardy USA has announced the release of their latest rum expression, Vizcaya Black Rum, to the U.S. market.
Produced in the Dominican Republic, Vizcaya Black is distilled in small batchs from pressed sugar cane juice. The rum acquires it’s dark color from ageing between 12-21 years in charred oak barrels.
Vizcaya Black’s aroma and flavor includes “distinct fragrances of chocolate, walnut and honey”. The combination of the fragrances, charred oak barrels and aging process makes Vizcaya Black Rum unique and firmly distinguishes it from other black rums.
Hardy USA president Mark Levinson sees growth potential in the black rum category, given the rise in popularity of Tiki cocktails which typically require a dark rum.
“We took this particular product a step further to create a super-premium black rum. Rum lovers are in for a pleasant surprise” Hardy USA president Mark Levinson
Vizcaya Black Rum is bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV) and has a suggested retail price of $28.99/750 ml bottle.
