An investigation by PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC) which focused on the integrity of Angostura Ltd’s rum, titled “Project Spirits”, has found the company was not compliant with trade agreements in declarations made on its exported goods.
A Sunday Express exclusive in November 2016 revealed the local rum company had been buying bulk rum from Cuba and South America, re-packaging it without substantial changes, and selling it to export markets.
PWC’s final audit report, dated January 2017, coincided with a sexual harassment complaint filed by a former female executive against chairman Dr Rolph Balgobin at Angostura in November 2016.
