A toast to Black Tot Day! Forty-six years ago today, July 31, 1970, was the last issuance of daily rum rations provided to sailors in the British Royal Navy. This daily rum ration, known as the daily tot had been part of a navy tradition for 300+ years. Checkout the story of Pusser’s Rum below.
To celebrate this year I ended Black Tot Day with a dram of Pusser’s Navy Rum in an original British Navy rum measure. I also mixed up a terrific Navy Grog using Pusser’s British Navy Rum, Ron Barcelo Dominican Rum, El Dorado 5 Demerara Rum,and Kohala Bay Dark Jamaican Rum. Yes, I know that’s a lot of rum but boy was it good.
